Are there any type of goverment funded trade schools?
Question by Jennifer B: Are there any type of goverment funded trade schools?
My younger brother ( 17) years old wants to move from San Antonio to live with me in Louisville Ky. He has grown up in a very abusive home and I would like to help him think about , and make goals for his future. He is not very good in school due to a learning disability. I think traditional college would not work for him but some type of trade school might be a better option so he can learn a trade. I dont have much money so I am trying to find out if there is any goverment funded trade shools out there. Any tips are appreciated. Thanks

Look at Kentucky Junior College. Many Jr Colleges have trade school types of classes.
You can get some info in Kentucky Trade Schools at http://www.collegebound.net/career-school-guide/?gclid=CJn1ibXHqpYCFQkiagoddwQ_zQ&referer=http://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=sow&q=Louisville+Ky+trade+school&btnG=Search&campaign_id=11676076&
Good luck.

Is there a way to scan for stocks that currently have higher volatility?
Question by Scott: Is there a way to scan for stocks that currently have higher volatility?
I’m looking for a way to get a list of individual stocks that, for whatever reason, have at least an implied higher volatility. Maybe Yahoo finance, or MSN finance has such a screener, but I’m not sure how to get there.
Thanks

Meta stock, is what you are looking for. It is a stock screener that you can program for several different results. The down side is you have to subscribe to it.
If you use schwab’s street smart pro to buy and sell stocks, it will display the volume of any stock you select. It will not search for you though
You can also go to volatility .com, which is a bit tedious but free.

Are there any online brokerages that allow unlimited stocks and options trading?
Question by Tiantong: Are there any online brokerages that allow unlimited stocks and options trading?
I felt a little disappointed with Scottrade as it takes 3 days to settle funds, 3 days for money added to account to be tradeable, small stocks can’t always be traded when the market is open due to “not having bid and ask,” and trades with stocks under $ 5 have to be limit orders. I don’t care about commissions as long as it is always below $ 10.

If a member of your family served in the Armed Forces, go with USAA. $ 5.95 a trade and you usualy get 25 free trades right off the bat. If that option isn’t open to you, try tradeking.com or ING. Both have trade fees of about $ 4.

Options in other countries?
Best answer:
Answer by Monica
I’d imagine that most developed countries permit the trading of derivative products such as options or futures on their exchanges. Derivatives are traded on exchanges where centralized trading allows for all participants in the market to make and observe quotes and execute trades in the presence of other participants.

Are there any risks whatsoever to a buyer of a long call or put option?
Question by skahhh: Are there any risks whatsoever to a buyer of a long call or put option?
I have been led to believe that the writer is the only one who would ever have to surrender shares of a stock in options trading, that the buyer only loses his investment of premium in the call or put at the most. Is this true?
Best answer:
Answer by Leo Enoch
Yes,the risk is the amount of money you put in to buy that option.
That is the risk you have to take. because the premium of the option will loses the value upon expiration of the option or when the stock is going in the direction against you.
Hope this help

I implore you to do some research before getting into the muddy waters of options.
The wild claims you hear about making millions with no risk are hooey. Options are dangerous and volatile and there is great risk of losing huge sums of money.

[FINANCIAL] – Are there different Options markets like stocks, if so can people in the uk trade on US market?
Question by Alex H: [FINANCIAL] – Are there different Options markets like stocks, if so can people in the uk trade on US market?
Also what is the main website most option traders use to trade options, and what are the offline ways of doing so?

There are several US option exchanges: the CBOE, Amex, Philadelphia, Pacific, Intercontinental, Boston (the BOX), New York, Nymex. Major options usually trade simultaneously on several exchanges.
Option orders for persons outside the US trading US options through an online brokerage registered in their country of residence are executed in the US by jitney services subcontracted to their brokerage. Usually, neither the individual investor nor his local brokerage can specify which exchange the order will be routed to. The jitneys control the routing. This is why it’s irrelevant for the outside-US option trader to be concerned with which exchange, etc.
There are ancient & complex problems associated with routing of option orders but the bottom line is that these can definitely be tolerated.
Don’t quite understand what you mean by offline trading. If you mean telephoning a live representative to place each order in the UK, the commissions will eat you alive. My guess is that the number of online brokerages operating from the UK that offer deep-discount commissions for US options trading is limited. To further encumber these trades with expensive agent-handled commissions would not be economical or efficient.
Yahoo finance presents option tables for each company that has options. Their tables are not always accurate, but serve to offer a general profile of option trading at a particular point in time in the US. They are probably using B/A (bid/ask) quotes from OPRA, the options pricing authority. This will amalgamate quotes from the different exchanges – more or less – since arbs work any opportunities for arbitrage between the different exchanges.

Is there a simulator for online stock/options trading with a particular company like E-Trade?
Question by Dude32: Is there a simulator for online stock/options trading with a particular company like E-Trade?
I would like to start investing online, however, I first want to become comfortable with a particular company’s online setup for buying/selling stocks and options. I want to know how to conduct trades quickly, and I would feel more comfortable if I could practice first with a company’s simulator where I am first using like “fake money” to practice trading, and once I’m comfortable with the website, I can just start using real cash. Is there a stock/options trading company which offers a simulator?

Answer by James
Most online brokers offers such a simulator. The one I personally use is http://oxint.optionsxpress.com/?ASID=3478
